The Cats of Istanbul

July 10, 2014

One of the first things I noticed in Istanbul were all the stray cats (and dogs).  I wasn’t surprised by the presence of cats, but what surprised me was how friendly they all were.  They would come up to you and flop over for you rub their bellies, rub up against your legs and talk to you.  Most of them looked healthy.  If they didn’t come up to you first, they didn’t run away if you came up to them. Since I have a soft spot for cats, I took tons of pictures of them (almost as many as tile). There were stray dogs, but the were asleep every time I saw them. This first picture is the first cat I encountered in Istanbul!  Istanbul CatsIstanbul CatsIstanbul CatsIstanbul CatsIstanbul CatsIstanbul Cats
