Hello, all! Thank you so much for the birthday wishes the last week. I really appreciate it. Also, thanks for giving feedback on Friday Favorites. Most people wanted it to stay, so it will stay! Anytime you want to give me feedback or ask a question, please leave a comment or email me at info@agirlandherpassport.com. I am here to help inspire you to travel and to help you plan your travels. Next week, I will finally bring you some of my trip to Bangkok! Stay tuned.

Hotel News

Home Rental Apps as Alternatives to Airbnb – The New York Times gives us some great alternatives to Airbnb, which is great when Airbnb is not available in the town you are going to or doesn’t have much selection. This is what I discovered when I went to Istanbul. Airbnb selection was small and more expensive than a hotel. Warning, a video plays automatically, which I hate, but the article is good.

Airport News

Will Airport Security Accept Your Driver’s License? – When I read this headline, I was like WHAT?! It has a slightly alarmist headline, but basically the security standards are being raised for government issued IDs and states need to comply within a 120 days notice. Many states have already started working on this, but it is something to be aware of if you are flying domestically in the U.S.

Destination Tips

$1000 Day in New York on $100! – I could have used this guide when I lived there. Some great tips for eating and entertaining yourself on the cheap in New York City.

On the Fringe: Istanbul’s Next Great Neighborhoods – I loved Istanbul and plan on going again. Condé Nast Traveler gives us some great neighborhoods that are outside the usual tourist places to see.

Taking a Break In Everyday Prague – Rick Steve’s gives us some ideas for taking a break like a local in Prague. Thanks, Mom for sending this one along! (My Mom as been to Prague and I haven’t, so I will take her word for it.)

Weekly Post Wrap-Up

My Favorite Things About Travel – My contribution to this month’s travel link-up, which was about my favorite things.
